The School of Life (TSOL) is Praxium’s flagship initiative, co-created with youths and experienced mentors to complement traditional academia. This 12-week program goes beyond textbooks, focusing on developing real-world life skills often overlooked in

day-to-day curricula.

We believe life skills are best taught and caught in experiences specially designed to mimic real-life intergenerational interactions. Unlike regular school and typical enrichment classes elsewhere, classes

at TSOL comprise youths from a mix of ages engaging in facilitated interdisciplinary learning, discussions and collaboration. This encourages healthy role-modeling by senior youths, and

reverse mentoring from younger peers.

At the core of TSOL is hands-on learning and metacognition ("reflective thinking"), where participants reflect on their real-life experiences, observations and thought processes;

refine strategies, and develop personalized

problem-solving approaches. This empowers

them to cultivate a mindset for lifelong learning,

build self-awareness, resilience, and

decision-making skills—critical for thriving

in an ever-changing world.

DURATION:

For many young people today, school can feel like a whirlwind of demands, leaving them disorganized, overwhelmed, and unprepared for the challenges of adulthood. As they navigate the complexities of adolescence, discovering their identities and independence, mentorship plays a crucial role in guiding them through this transformative stage.

According to 2022 statistics from the National Youth Council, the top three sources of stress among youths are uncertainty about the future, emerging adult responsibilities, and financial concerns.

Our programme is designed to address these challenges through four key pillars:

Self-Awareness & Self-Mastery, Financial Literacy, Career Readiness, and People Skills.

Self- Awareness & Self-Mastery

Self-awareness and self-mastery lay the foundation for emotional intelligence, decision-making, and personal growth. Youths will better understand their strengths, weaknesses, and values, building confidence to navigate challenges. With strong self-management skills, they’ll handle stress, stay motivated, and set clear goals, fostering adaptability and productivity. These skills empower them to take charge of their journey, build meaningful relationships, and succeed in adulthood.

Participants will:

  • Gain clarity and confidence in their identity

  • Build emotional resilience to embrace setbacks as learning opportunities.

  • Make intentional choices to fuel both their personal and professional growth.

Financial Literacy

Financial literacy is key to managing money wisely, avoiding debt, and building long-term financial success. By learning to budget, save, and make informed decisions, youths gain the confidence to handle key life transitions—from managing their first paycheck to planning for future goals. This knowledge empowers them to take control of their finances and make smarter choices as independent adults.

Participants will learn:

  • How money works—from earning to investing.

  • How businesses and careers generate income.

  • How to plan for financial stability and long-term goals.

Career Readiness

Career readiness isn’t learned in a classroom—it’s experienced firsthand. We take our participants on guided visits to select companies, where they engage directly with industry professionals and gain real-world insights into workplace expectations. Our guidance ensures they’re not just prepared for the workforce, but develop key skills and are empowered to make informed decisions about their future with clarity and confidence.

Participants will:

  • Visit select companies to experience different industries firsthand.

  • Engage with professionals to understand workplace expectations.

  • Develop practical career-building skills, including resume writing and portfolio development.

People Skills

A 2022 World Economic Forum report found that while 80% of employers prioritize life skills like communication, 54% believe youths lack these essential abilities. This gap highlights the need for stronger interpersonal skills in today’s workforce.

This programme equips young people with key social and communication skills—such as empathy, active listening, and persuasive speaking—so they can build meaningful relationships, thrive in professional settings, and grow with confidence in an increasingly digital world.

Participants will:

  • Practice active listening and build meaningful relationships.

  • Learn persuasion and negotiation techniques for real-world interactions.

  • Develop confident speaking skills for interviews, presentations, and teamwork.

The point about how each emotion usually means something (loss/boundaries crossed etc) really struck a chord with me. I never really noticed that before so I think that point will be very helpful for the teens to understand their emotions.

I also liked learning about the cognitive-behavioural model. I feel it’s important for parents and children to know about it because it will help them understand the power of their thinking. I didn't have a growth mindset when I was younger, and wished I had learnt about this back then.
